The Lost In Space Australia Trading Cards were produced by the LISA committee during the Nineties and were issued as an incentive for fans to come along to Conventions. These cards were issued free of charge and at a rate of five cards per convention. The initial release of the LISA cards began in September 1994 and continued on for several conventions. There is a full-page advert for the LISA Cards in Volume Number 2 Issue No. 11. After the initial release there were several enquires to the Committee about the availability of these cards to interstate fans and arrangements were made to supply these fans with the cards. They were NEVER sold in their initial run OR through the Club but some sets have become available in the secondary market and draw very good prices and have become very rare and hotly sought after.

Oddly enough scans of the Cards appear on several websites dedicated to LIS but few state their origin other than saying that they are Australian Cards.

There are 40 cards in the set. The cards are printed on good quality stock board and are of a standard ‘trading card’ size of 6.5 cm by 9 cm. Cards 1 to 24 contain photos on both sides and trivia questions on the back. The photos are in black and white with the front photo being in gloss and the rear photo in matt. Cards 25 to 40 have gloss photos on the front of the card while the rear form a jigsaw puzzle photo of the cast standing by the Astrogator. Interesting note here is that the photo chosen by LISA to form the Jigsaw is the same as the one used as ‘Chase Cards’ by Inkworks in their 1997 Classic Series Trading Cards release. By using that photo LISA pre-empted that company’s ‘Chase Cards’ by three years.
