INTERNATIONAL
CONVENTION BOOKS
These books
were sold at the International Conventions. Fan club information was
printed on the inside of these books and the covers were free of advertising
with Jonathan's Tour book being the exception (it has an advert for
the Video Release on the rear cover). Many people had the covers of
the books signed - I have included some signatures in this section
as well as tickets and flyers. There have been four International
Conventions since 1994. They are; 'Never Fear Smith is Here! An evening
with Dr. Smith From Lost In Space' starring Jonathan Harris with the
Robinson Robot; 'The Robinson Robot - The Body and Soul Tour' starring
Dick Tufeld and Bob May; 'Major Don West 1997 Blast-Off Tour' starring
Mark Goddard and 'Judy Robinson - The 2001 Space Odyssey Tour' staring
Marta Kristen. The books refer only to the conventions and not to
other events that occurred as part of the respective Tours. I have
listed these in chronological order.

'Never
Fear Smith is Here!
An evening with Dr. Smith From Lost In Space'.
Limited
season from 14th March 1994. The Flyer for this tour was an folded
A4 gloss sheet of paper in black white and yellow featuring an illustration
of Dr. Smith and The Robot. The full-page advert also doubled as the
cover for the video release. The rear of this flyer contains a very
brief history of Jonathan's career as well as a section on Booking
Details. The Ticket is 5cm (2 inch) by 14 cm (5 ½ inch) and
the writing has faded due to the computer printing process. The book
is 8 pages and contains both color and black and white pics. There
is a foreword by Glenn ware and Sally Newport of Entertainment Today
PTY LTD. There is a page history of Jonathan titled 'Worth More Than
A Zac' and is specifically about his time on LIS and other Television
appearances. 'More than a Few Nuts And Bolts' is a history of The
Robinson Robot, Dick Tufeld and Bob May while 'Lost In Space' covers
the rest of the cast. There is a two-page spread on Jonathan with
a list of film, stage and TV credits with a footnote stating that
the list is by no means complete due to Jonathan's lengthy career.
'Famous Insults of Dr. Smith' is a very lengthy list of insults issued
by Dr. Smith over LIS three year run. 'The Smith Family's Getting
Bigger' is a talk with Jonathan on various topics with emphasis on
LIS. There is an article on the upcoming Lost In Space Movie titled
'To awaken a Sleeping Giant' which is followed by an 'Irwin Allen
Fan Club/Fanzine Round Up'. The last page is a list of credits of
all those involved in the production of the Tour and the inside cover
is a portrait of Jonathan as Dr. Smith. Jonathan has not signed my
copy of this Program. I seem to remember that there was a limit, on
the night, on items for Jonathan to sign.

'The
Robinson Robot Body and Soul Tour'
The ticket
is 9.5 cm (3 ¾ inches) by 21 cm (8 ¼ inches) and features
an illustration of the Robot flanked by silhouettes of the two men
who brought the Robot to life. The text on the ticket has not faded
due to the ticket being printed as opposed to being a computer generated
one. The book is 17 pages long and is in black and white with exception
of the front cover that has two blue bands on it. Once again the staff
of Entertainment Today provide the Foreword and the history of the
Robot is discussed in 'More Than A Few Nuts and Bolts'. 'Creating
the Perfect Partner' is an essay on the comic partnership of Dr. Smith
and the Robot. A humorous article covering all the times that the
Robot has sung on LIS follows next. (How many times? Thirteen!). The
cast of LIS is covered next. Biographies of Bob May and Dick Tufeld
take out the center pages and both stars have signed my copy of the
program. I seem to remember that there was no real limit on the number
of items signed. 'Famous Insults of Dr. Smith' is a complete list
of 'Smithisms'. There is an advert for Lost In Space Merchandise and
collectables. There is a two page 'The Robinson Robot Body and Soul
Tour' Programme showing the complete list of events over the two days
of the convention. The last page is a list of credits for the Convention
while the inside back cover is of the LISA Robinson Robot.

'Major
Don West 1997 Blast-off Tour'.
The Ticket
is 9.5 cm (3 ¾ inches) by 15 cm (6 inches) and carries a picture
of Mark Goddard in the left hand corner. The ticket is for the 'Blast-off
Movie Night', one of the four events held for the Tour. The ticket
contains information on events on the night as well as Fanclub information.
The ticket is printed and has held it's clarity over the years. The
book runs for 12 pages and all the photos contained within are in
black and white. The front cover is in blue and white but is repeated
in black and white and of photo quality as the books title page. Mark
has signed the inside front cover. There is an editorial by Glenn
Ware of 'Lost In Space Fanclub of Australia Incorporated'. 'Commanding
a Pilot's Role' is a five-page essay on Mark's career with the fourth
and fifth pages containing several photographs from Lost In Space.
'Revelations of a Pilot's Log' is a special letter to the fans by
Mark. There is a full-page black and white advert for the 'Lost In
Space' Movie as well as a full-page advert for the LISA Fanclub offering
details of what you get when you join LISA as well as the postal address
of the Club. The last page is a complete episode guide for 'Lost In
Space'. The rear cover is a drawing of the Jupiter Two.

'Judy
Robinson - The 2001 Space Odyssey Tour'
I do not
have a ticket for this Convention as this was the first 'International'
Convention at which I worked as a member of the Convention rather
than attended as a fan (see Conventions for details of the Marta Tour).
The book runs for twelve pages. The book has a purple cover and is
similar in style to the book for the Mark Goddard tour. The photos
within are in black and white. Marta has signed the inside cover of
my book. There are many Marta Tour Books that Marta signed on the
front cover. Some are dated 201 while others are not. The editorial
is again by Glenn Ware and contains a very nice drawing by artist
Franz Kantor. There is a full-page advert for LISA which includes
the postal address and the website address. A personal letter from
Marta to the Fans is featured in 'My Place In Space'. A history of
Marta's life and times is presented over six pages in 'To Serve A
Robinson Role'. The essay contains several photos of Marta throughout
out her career with special emphasis on 'Lost In Space'. Pages five
and six has several portraits of Marta from her earliest role to how
she looks today. The book features a 'Filmography' of Marta Kristen
as its last feature. The rear cover is a drawing of Marta as Judy.
